I nearly spilt my beer ..

Yesterday evening we landed up with several of our friends in a pub on our way back from an early evening event we had all been to. While I was at the bar with one of my pals, this guy came past and commented on my Cilt. He was very complimentary. He asked me if I wore it all the time and my mate joined in straight away and said ' most of the time he does, it helps him work, rest and play'. It gave us all a laugh and reminded us the old Mars bar advert. Anyone else remember it .. A mars a day ....

    Derek,

A true remembrance of my past with the Mars bar. Yes a Cilt does seem to give one a great pick me up!

Glad that your mate injected that, a great compliment.

The Mars Bar never had the reknown here in Chicago that it seems to have enjoyed in the UK...I've heard a lot of references to it in British Humor but it's possible that I was the only kid in my neighborhood who ate them...and that only because my dad owned the grocery store with the candy department.

I'm afraid that it was the Snickers Bar that was preeminent here in the States...must have to do with the peanuts....

I've read, forgot where, that the Mars Bar in the UK is more like the Snickers Bar in the US.

Since matters military seem to creep into many threads here, would there be any connection to the relative popularity of each respective bar in each respective country created by it's being provided by the military as a standard item in the army's rations?

...and what of the Kit Kat bar?
