I need warp speed Mr. Scott!
I was watching my new Star Trek Original Series DVDs last night and got a pleasant surprise; Scotty was wearing a kilt! The episode was in season two and was entitled "Is There In Truth No Beauty" and it is during the formal dinner a quarter of the way in. He was quite well attired in what appeared to be an 8 yarder, dress sporran, oatmeal hose, garter ties, fly plaid, and dress military jacket. I had just asked a few weeks earlier why "Scotty" was never seen in a kilt and there he is!
Hugh
P.S. It appears to be the Scott-Black and White Tartan found here - http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tar....aspx?ref=3691

Scotty also wears a kilt at Spock's funeral at the end of Star Trek II (or the beginning of Star Trek III?), as I recall.

Actually he is wearing the standard uniform pants like the rest of the crew during that scene. He is, however, playing the bagpipes. It's funny that as many times as I have seen that movie I only recently noted that it was he on the pipes. Shatner's acting was so spellbinding during the eulogy that I always find it hard to focus on anything else. People forget How good an actor he can be.

Well crud, that's what I get for trying to go by memory. I'm sure there was a scene in one of the movies where he was wearing a kilt; I just can't place it exactly.
(It's also possible that my memory is failing me.)

I (almost) recall that as well.

In the ethnic accoutrements department, and aside from the bagpipes, all I can remember is that Scotty gave up his best bottle of scotch in order to stupify an enemy. I seem to recall it was 200 years old- has it been made yet I wonder?

Hugh, I am so jealous! I love Star Trek. I did get the first 2 seasons of Tales From The Crypt, though!

According to the timelines I found at Wikipedia, no it has not been made yet. It will have to wait another 50 or 60 years...
