I emailed Union Kilts today with a few questions on the leather Claymore. I think that I will order one today, however, I can not decided whether I should get brown or black.

I would go with Brown. I don't know how historically acurate you want it to be, but I believe the process of dying leather black is more of a modern invention rather than medieval.

However you should buy which ever suits your needs best.

If I did not have my black Shadow Tartan SWK Heavyweight (one of my two favorite current kilts) I would go the the black leather without question.
