    i think i did a bad thing....

was heading home earlier this eve from a night of theater in NYC - was still dressed on the work uniform of khakis & a polo shirt . Sat down on the subway to head for home & glanced at a fellow passenger, and what does he happen to be reading but a flyer from 21st Century kilts...
being the shy & retiring type, i venture over & embark in a conversation with said gentleman. Turns out he is considering buying a kilt - he had been interested in them for a while - he is considering a tartan 21st century model but with the current exchange rates it would be frighteningly expensive - so i i gave him the URL for here as a place to get more info on kilts & accessories & sources on this side of the pond... mentioned to him the Tartan Week festivities - which he missed and the comfort & other benefits of kilts etc

Here is the bad part - he then reveals that he works in fashion publishing & is considering writing a piece on kilts etc in a future mag (he didn't say which) so i hereby issue a mea culpa for the possible tarnishing of the tartan by popularizing it in the mass media and beg forgiveness of the kilted gods above

    Cheers

    al is forgiven

Onion my good fellow, this is a bit of the holy grail you know. getting into a major publication. Certainly a two edged sword, as has been discussed beore. kilts in the mainstream, not necessarily a good thing. but it is a promotion of the kilt. I say, " Good on you lad."
Glad to see you back on board.

Good thing he isn't a Kilted samurai, or he would have to commit sepuku.

UmAnOnion, you merely provided the writer with an excellent source of information. What he does with that information is not your responsibility. Besides, the folks here are great ambassadors for kilts.

Well, I certainly have my own thoughts on "kilts in the mainstream." But, honestly, like anything else: the more of us that wear them and often, the more in noticed we'll be by the mainstream. And, being the ever-devouring monster that is "main stream"...
