I went to see The Tossers last night

I went and saw The Tossers last night, and I had a blast. I wore my PV Black Watch, and got many MANY compliments from assorted punks and skinheads. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics, as the venue would not allow any cameras inside.

Aaron Duggins, their tin whistle player, told me I'm a nancy boy for not going regimental, but I'm glad I didn't, as his brother Tony, who sings and plays mandolin, flipped up the back of my kilt, and in the process, spilled about half a beer down my back.

So, now I have to wash my kilt... I'm quite nervous about this, as I've never washed a kilt before... Any suggestions would be most welcome.

And if anyone's going to be in the Hollywood, Ca area tomorrow night, you should definitely go see The Tossers at the Troubaour. I'll be there, kilted again, whether I get my Black Watch washed today or not.

PV? The good Marton Mills stuff, or Fraser and Kirkbright? If it's the Marton Mills, just wash it, gentle cycle, cool water, hang dry. Brother Ron (Riverkilt) has posted about 15,732 times about using a little Black and Decker "Gizmo" hand steamer. It's worked wonders with my USAK semi-trads (Marton Mills PV).

Yep wash it in cold water gentle cycle and hang to dry, it should be fine. I am really not sure how happy I would be with someone who poured a beer down my back, pretty sure I would not go back to see them again, if I did, I would never wear a wool kilt to the show.

I don't know where the fabric came from. It's a cheap kilt I picked up at the Pomona highland games.

I'm pretty sure the beer spilling was an accident, as he was piss drunk. I'm not even sure he realized he'd spilled. They were nice guys, and quite pleasant to talk to. Also, this was a punk show, so the people there are... well... a bit more casual about things like spilled beer. If I even suspected that the spill was intentional, I probably would have decked him in the face and definitely would not be going to see them again.

I just checked the tag on the kilt, and it doesn't actually list the fabric type or content... but as I only paid $50 US for it, I'm pretty sure it is a synthetic.... Do the same wasning instructions apply for all synthetic kilts?

Only wear kilts that you aren't worried about spilling stuff on when going to a venue where alcohol is involved. That's what I wear my SWK Lamont for... the rustic like brown and grey tones totally hide beer stains...
Haven't had a chance to see the Tossers live... but they seem like they'd be fun... one of my buddies is really into those guys.

That's why I wore the kilt that I did... it's the cheapest one I own, and it was purchased locally. My other two were purchased on my honeymoon in Scotland... I wouldn't have risked one of those. My wife likes to joke about the steep price tag on all our souvenirs.

Anyway, the kilt has been through the washer, and is hanging to dry. It's got some minor wrinkling that I'll take care of in the morning. No harm, no foul, I'll wear it again tomorrow night.

I went to see The Tossers again last night, and again, I had a great time. They put on a reat show, and Tony Duggins sang a tribute to Tommy Makem.

I confirmed that the beer spilling was an accident... Tony was so drunk on Tuesday that he didn't even remember meeting me, let alone lifting my kilt or spillin on me.
