I'm home from the war and the kilts are in.

O.K. Folks, I'm back in Oregon and I'm the proud owner of 5 new kilts. I've been wearing them far more than I thought I would and I post reviews in the proper location soon. The current collection is as follows:

    1) US Army Sport Kilt with buckles, belt loops and sewn down pleats
    2) StillWaterKilts Black Watch Thrifty-Kilt
    3) StillWaterKilts Irish National Thrifty-Kilt
    4) StillWaterKilts Black Watch Heavyweight Kilt
    5) StillWaterKilts Nightstalker Standard Kilt

I'll post detailed reviews with pictures in the proper forums but the quick bottom line is that they all are as advertized. The heaver kilts have better swing and just feel more "Kilty" but they get a little warm in the weather we're currently having. The SportKilt the the SWK Thrifties don't have the swing but are much cooler. The thrifties do have a better swing that the sportKilt though. On the SportKilt's side, with the straps and belt loops, it's still a passable kilt and it is by far the coolest.

I'm very pleased with them all. The Montgomery Kilt I ordered from Scotland has yet to arrive.

I got my mom's old Scottish Eye (only one is still working) to look me over in the night stalker and she said I looked like a Scot so I think that that must be a good sign.

I'm busy making converts amoungst the family menfolk. My sons are staying with me and as soon as they saw me walking around in a Kilt they had to have on as well. I took care of that through SWK and now they keep asking how long it will take for them to get here. We were getting ready to go out to dinner tonight and when I told them that I was going to change back into a pair of pants my oldest son, Pattrick said, " Remember Dad, a man in a kilt is a man and a half". Well on went the SWK Balck Watch heavyweight and out to dinner we went. I talked to my twin brother and I think I got him on board to wear a kilt to the Oregon Highland games next month. Now I know that if my dad sees me, my brother, and my sons all in kilts then I'll get him in a kilt and then I'll get a picture of three generations in a kilt which I'll post. Well I've got to get back to grathering informations for the reviews.

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.

I've always liked the word "lagniappe." You know, that little extra something---I've always thought of it as the cherry on top of the banana split.

You're home from the war and with your family--that's the banana split. The kilts, they qualify as WONDERFUL lagniappe, I think.

If you've got deployment pay burning a hole in your pocket, check out USA Kilts, Rocky has some US Army tartan in poly-viscose that makes up into a STUNNING kilt, and remember, Rocky makes 'em to measure.
