    Smile I'm a model now

I have been home for 12 days now, and wearing one of my kilts often. i wore my PSD tartan to Church last week, and that was well received. At some of the malls and shopping centers, and hiking at a local park. Last night was a bit ego boost. I was at Hooters, (for the wings) and wearing my OIF tartan, with a green tweed vest I bought in Ireland, and a nice green tie. I thought I looked good. All night long, the men around us were asking the Hooters girls..."can I take my picture with you?". At the End of our meal, one of the Hooters girls comes up to our table, and asks me, "can I take a photo with you?" my buddy was in awe. The hottie girls wanted their photo with me! Yeah, I can kick it like that. I think I will start doing under wear commercials for Calvin Klein.

I had a similar set of circumstances when I accompanied my daughter's class to "The Scottish Play" at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. A bunch of high school students were also in attendance and wanted to have their picture taken with me after the performance. Them being high school students, i wasn't sure whether it was a "...we saw this cool guy in a kilt at the play...isn't that awesome" sort of thing or a "...check out this kilted weirdo that was at the play" sort of thing. Thankfully, I had already gotten pretty thick-skinned about being kilted by then so it's no skin off my nose either way.

But just think of it, Jay...your image is probably on somebody's blog by now...

I gotta agree with the "blog" comment. I'll bet you're in "myspace land" and don't even realize it yet.

You have a picture of that Irish tweedie vest?? That sounds super slick...

Isn’t it cool? I’ve never had a stranger ask if they could take my picture until I started wearing a Kilt.
