I'm resisting temptation
I really (really) like a lot of the "weathered, hunting" tartans that I see here on X-marks. For example, way2fractious has a beautiful weathered Ferguson box-pleat kilt and I really love the tartan.
It occurred to me that there *could* be a "Hunting MacNaughton" or a "Weathered Hunting MacNaughton".. There isn't now, but there *could be*. I just need a bit of imagination, the OK from the Clan Association Board (since the official Clan Society is now defunct), and about 4-5 people who want material.
It's mighty tempting. MIGHTY tempting.
So far, I'm resisting. Crikey.

My tank is a weathered hunting MacRae. IMHO it is the nicest of all the MacRae tartans.

I agree...I really liked that weathered MacDonald box pleat I saw here a few weeks ago.
By the way, Brian, are you related to the Hugh MacRae that the park in Wilmington is named for? I grew up in Wilmington and spent many happy hours at Hugh MacRae Park. (playing on the playground as a child, parking in the evening when...well, you know...)

You are powerless to resist. Just give in now.

Thay have the ancient, weathered, and muted MacNaughton though Alan. It's not full of the browns like some of the other Weathered tartans, but it's pretty flippin' nice. They also have the Macnaughton blue too

Are you still resisting over there?

Must agree. I prefer the tomes of weathered tartans to the somewhat harsher "modern" colors.

I, too, like the "weathered" tartans - like my wedding kilt, in Weathered Lochaber:
Inter spem curamque, timores inter et iras
Omnem crede diem tibi diluxisse supremum:
Grata supervenient, quae non sperabitur hora.

Well, Colin beat me to the wool fabric.
But I did stumble across something very similar to modern MacNaughton in cotton duck on eBay ... you could make the first tartan cotton duck X Kilt.
That make wear away at that temptation a little.
I am easily moved for sympathy for dogs, far more so than for humans, because dogs do not understand. There is no way to explain that you will return, that the vet will make it all better, that they cannot go shooting today because that is not what today is about. They cannot work out that their misery is finite and will some time end, and so their misery is magnified.
