    Interesting eMail

I was looking at my spam folder tonight, looking to see if a reply to an email I'd written had somehow gotten filtered there. To my surprise, I discovered an email from Sider International, a kilt making company in Pakistan. They had, they said, gotten my business details off my website, and were interested in making kilts for my business.

The thing is, I don't have a business. And the only place I've ever mentioned that I was considering selling kilts was a thread here, where we were discussing the economics of making and selling kilts, wherein I decided that I couldn't afford to do so, unless I could lower my production costs by having the kilts made overseas.

Which makes me wonder just how many people are reading our threads.....

I get at least two or three emails from Pakistani companies offering to sell me kilts, sporrans, belts, what have you, every day. I consider it the equivalent of "kilt-spam." :-) I know others on this board recieve similar emails.

I've actually gotten phone calls from a couple of Pakistani firms at the museum, wanting us to carry their kilts in our gift shop. One got quite mad at me when I told him I wasn't interested!

I also get the phishing e-mails from Sider International. About 3 a week.

They offer Tartan kilts for $30.00 us. Canvas kilts for $30.00 us. And Prince Charlie Jackets for $96.00 us.

All anyone would need is a garage, some shipping supplies, and an e-bay account and anyone can be a kilt vendor.

Double the price you are charged and you can still offer a kilt to the world at at least half of what anyone else offers. That's 100% pure profit to you.

I honestly don't see why everyone on this forum doesn't do this.

Then when you have made some profits you can get a tent and go to some highland games. Wear a t-shirt that says something like "Only true Scots wear the kilt." which you order off another e-bay vendor and make another 100% profit.

You know what, this sounds so good I think I'll close my shop and do it too.

Yes you make it sound very easy, Steve. The problem probably comes once the e-bay customers start expressing disappointment and dis-satisfaction with the quality.

Not to mention the fact that there aren't any Paki kilt manufacturers at the top of this page as sponsors either.
