    Inverness Capes

Has any one any experience with these folks?

Sorry if the link doesn't work but it is Twin Roses Designs under the section Capes and Evening Wraps. They have an Inverness type cape in wool at an extremely reasonable price of $225.00!

No personal experience with them, but for what it's worth they are pretty well respected in the renfaire and costuming communities.

    Hello,

No experience with them. I do have an abundant amount of experience with Kinloch-Anderson out of Leith, Scotland. The majority of my Highland attire is made by them, and Kinloch-Anderson produce superb Inverness Capes - many of which can be made in almost any type (pattern, weight, and colour) of tweed and coloured barathea wool. The tweed variant has staghorn buttons, and the coloured barathea wool has silver Celtic buttons. They are a wee bit expensive, but you get what you pay for these days in my honest opinion - especially with well-made, high-quality Highland attire produced by reputable and credible companies.

No personal experience with them however, they made one of the nicest Santa Suits for a Santa in the UK that I have ever seen.

    Possibly

I may be mistaken, but I think ForresterModern (Jeff) may have one of their made to measure Inverness style capes. Check with him.

Yup. Got mine in black and light grey houndstooth, ala' Sherlock Holmes, three years ago. Love it, very heavyweight in the fabric and custom size made just for me. Nicely lined. Good people to deal with.

I would not hesitate to buy this again. The folks make general costume and fantasy wear, as well as some specific period wear and steampunk. But the Inverness--Dickensian cloak is spot on.

I ordered a cape clasp from them and they were very quick to ship it and pleasant to deal with.

VMac3205 makes capes. Arlen, McMurdo and I all have one of them and can attest to their goodness. You might try PMing her.

Wonderful news, thank you for the information. Now I just have to find a plausible excuse for justifying the purchase (to my dear sweet girlfriend)!
