....and for all the girls who seem to like em, really kinda explains why the wifeys don't care for em on thier lads

So, as I said in the in another thread, I wonder if it is as much the kilt as it is the confidence and bearing of a guy willing to wear one, especially knowing he will truly stand out in a crowd. It's like the ladies like the bad boy syndrome.

But, on the other hand, who cares as long as it works aye.

The number of posts on that site from people who have husbands/SO's/family members who actually own and wear kilts really surprised me. I am impressed!

Forgive me for not replying in the spirit of the original post but do we all really need the endorsement andapproval of others to choose our clothing ? Not exactly freedom is it ? Can anyone honestly imagine a ladies forum breathing collective sighs of relief every time a mere male approves of their choice of jeans ?

Of course any relationship must have give and take, but the premise so often aired on these pages mostly in a subtle way, is that kilting needs approval from others - especially significant others. Outwith the corporate world where men are still expected or in deed required to present themselves in a uniform
(wow - I get a choice of ties - ain't life grand) approval isn't required. Until we can get that across to our young folk, I fear we'll all still be viewed as being slightly eccentric.

On the other hand, I take my hat off to some of the wonderful ambassadors on this forum who kilt with pride regardless !
There's no rehearsal - this is it.

I think you have made a good point about cloting, and the marketing of clothing, with regards to the mainstream. It is very much based on the approval of others, some women really believe men notice their shoes.

A regards to those who go about kilted, I really don't think they need approval at all, in fact I think it is more approval be damned kind of thing. I think what, for them most part, is wanted is support in the proper wearing of the kit, and that those the matter most to them are supportive of their individuality. JMHO.... for what it's worth

We usually have a family dinner at my daughters on Saturdays so last week I wore my kilt. My daughter said what ya dresssed up fer ya don't usually bother. I wore the same shirt, shoes etc. The only difference was a kilt and hose instead of my best smartly pressed trousers. Says it all dunnit.

    What?

Lady in the purple approves of your kilt...

So, since alot of kilts have fringe.....one could considet this behavior a fringe benefit...

I'm addicted to this forum. Can't tear myself away. Reading all your postings. From far far away. Looking at all your pictures. And the stories you do tell. I'm addicted to this forum. So what the hell!

No, of course we don't need the approval of the ladies, nor their interest, nor their flirtations... but ain't life grand?
