I've arrived...

OK, so we were waiting to have dinner on Friday night after the funeral of my uncle. Myself (kilted) my sister, Dad, and his wife. We were in Applebee's (popular lunch and dinner food chain) waiting for a table. We were in the foyer with about 12-15 other people waiting and we were just talking about the funeral, my uncle, other family members, etc., just minding our own business. A woman and her husband (both in their 60's), had finished and were walking out. The woman leans in to me and asks "What do you wear under that?", then continued out of the restaurant. I feel that I have arrived as I felt no need to provide a flip, sharp, crude, or funny response. I just rolled my eyes and kept talking to my Dad. I feel like I have reached a new level in my kilt wearing. I may feel a need to respond to people in the future, depending on how the question is asked, but I feel like I can now just ignore it.

LOL I'm used to that question now...I just answer, "That's between me and my kilt..." which usually gets a good laugh

You definetly have arrived in the Kilt wearing when you show that you have the composure not to respond with anything.

I think the response to that question depends very much on the circumstances. Having been comning back from a funeral sure doesnt help any, but I think you did pretty well at keeping your composure.
