Jonesing to Jones
I'm finally ready to order my next kilt and it will be a Semi-Trad from Rocky at USA Kilts. Since I've managed to lose some weight recently and since this is a bit more than just a casual kilt I figured that I'd make the drive from Connecticut down to Pennsylvania to have the man himself measure me. A few pit stops at brewpubs would make for a decent road trip and I was all set to go next Friday. But when I emailed Rocky to make sure that they'd be open, he wrote back (right away, at that) that they'll unfortunately be closed next Friday because of a festival!
So it seems like I'll now be jonesing for another month until I get have to time to make the trip again...just to start the jones all over again once the order is placed. I have a feeling I might save some pennies in the meantime to pay for the "rush" option.
<heavy sigh>

So after a month delay I went down to PA last week and had Rocky measure me for my next kilt. It's a semi-trad in MacPherson red...AND thanks for to the modest rush fee it's already now, just a week later, ON ITS WAY! That's fast! I know I'll be haunting the mailbox for the next few days until it arrives.
Thanks USAK!!!

Aww I wish I saw your first post!! I would have recommended the Sly Fox brew pub. They make their own beer and it is sooo good. And only a hop away from Rockys place. Anyway congratulations on your new kilt!!

I actually stopped by the Sly Fox after visiting USAK to have lunch with a old buddy who lives in the area. Truth be told I was rather disappointed with their brews. The wee heavy was solid and I enjoyed the growler of pale ale I brought home, but there were a few of the samples that I didn't even finish (which, for a beer lover like me, is saying something). But all in all, not a bad day. I didn't even get screwed by any traffic!

Wow that stinks! I must have lucked out I had a few that were fantastic and took home a few growlers of the hefeweizen. I loved every brew I had there but didn't have every brew they had.

Hi NewEnglander. Congrats on your new tank. Wear it well.
How many brews did they have? I once went to a pub near Oxford, England and they had 47 different brews from local brewers.

It IS April the first, is it not?
I was lead to believe that you can't make a 'TANK' in a week.
It's just impossible.

First off, it won't be a "tank". It's one of USA Kilts Semi-traditional kilts in PV. I have one wool kilt already (a 5 yard casual from B&S) that I wear for more formal occasions. This new kilt will have the greatest yardage (or at least number of pleats) of all of my kilts and I expect to get plenty of casual AND formal wear out of it.
As for the pub, they probably had close to a dozen brews on tap. I'm a homebrewer so I'm always interested in trying out any beer out there, especially if it's from a smaller, more local brewery.
