I agree that kilts should be nothing more than a clothing option. It is just that, with me, instead of making the choice every morning for the remainder of my life, I did it once-and-for-all .......... 6½ years ago! ;)


By the way, Alan, I did not "burn" my trousers. We are not permitted to have bonfires here for risk of environmental pollution! That's not to say that MY trousers would have been a greater risk than the next man's - any bonfire causes that pollution, whether it's a trousered bonfire or not!!!

"Moderation in all things" is one of the general rules I try to live by.

I, too, live by this rule. I moderate my trouser-wearing to only when I'm rock climbing!

At work - uniform dress code.
Outside of work - kilted for all everyday, normal activities. On those occasions when a kilt may be impractical (hunting from a tree stand, working under the car) or draw unwanted attenetion (walking into a federal building, getting a pistol permit from the sheriff...) I'll wear pants.

Since my boss feels his manhood threatened by my kilt wearing, that and the fact that on occasion modesty dictates wearing trousers, other than work I am pretty much kilted full time.

I agree with the comment concerning moderation...I have moderated my time in trousers to the least amount possible. :smile:

Pretty much every day, at work, at home, at play for the past 5 weeks and don't see when I would do differently, but it has been a pretty short timeframe. I have worn sweats or shorts when out playing with the kids, but that is probably as much because of my limited kilt supply as anything else. I have decided that the kilt is an option, my preferred option at this point. However, I can't ever see wearing trousers again, that is why I like loose fitting shorts and sweats as my non-kilt wear. They are much less constricting, similar to the kilt.

Well since I am self employed and work at home yes I am kilted all the time. Now saying that when I do some ladder work around the house, climbing, and bike riding, I am usually wearing either shorts or dare I say it pants.

Still more tr*7$£rs than kilts by about 90;10 but I managed to justify my collection to my wife this morning when I said I needed so many to cover all eventualities, formal/informal, walking, dress occasions, slobbing at home etc. She genuinely believed me too, so there's progress. I have to admit, the times when I do reflect more on whether to go unbifurcated tend to be when there are events where she features strongly and it may make her uncomfortable explaining all the time.(But you know how easy going she really is from when you met her, Derek!)

The kilt is my preferred mode of dress. I'm not going to risk my job or my skin by insisting on wearing it at all times, but I do find myself considering whether or not I really want to do things that require me to dress in anything other than kilts. (and yes, I do wear my kilt to ride my motorcycle - I just cover the kilt with a tourmaster suit)

If I owned more, I would wear them more often. They can never entirely replace shorts for me as I row, and bicycling is my main mode of transportation.
