Just wondering about the Afghanistan Tartan

I was wondering if anyone has or has seen a Kilt made in the Afghanistan Tartan (STA# 8153)? Has any pictures of it?

As a Veteran of the conflict I am thinking of ordering up the Tartan and having a 8yrd Traditional Kilt made of it.

    Have a good one.

I just saw it this week. I don't exactly remember where, but it was most likely either Frugal Corner, of perhaps Jhiggins. It just caught my eye and then I moved on.

I've searched both the Scottish Tartan Authority and the Scottish Register of Tartans by STA#, name, and keywords and I get NO matches for #8153, and nothing for the term "Afghanistan."

Sorry, man... Could you maybe tell us where you got the sta# reference number from? Or where you learned about the tartan? It might help to track it down...

    Higgins

First Thor271, thank you for your service.

    J. Higgins advertises this tartan and may have a photo in a customer archives or some such place. It may worth a call to them to see what they have.

    Regards,
    Brooke

It looks like the tartan is the design of Strathmore Woollens. Look for it 5th from the top. As for a kilt made in this, I'd imagine it would look nice but I've not seen one.

    It is J. Higgins...

A friend of mine has one that he had made through Josh at Skye Highland Outfitters. It's a very nice tartan. I've contacted the friend to coax him to post a pic for you or contact you...not sure if he will or not, though.

Thanks MacMillian's son, appreciated for sure.

Chris is right Strathmore designed the Tartan and this is the link to the Tartan Authority CDNSushi:

Longhunter74 that would be great if he would send a couple pics of it! I'd like to know a bit more about how it looks made up before I make the plunge to order the Fabric then have it made.

    Thanks Xmarkers!

    Thanks Adrk,

Thats a sharp looking Tartan. In a few months when the smoke blows over from my Wife losing it over my buying two Kilts in just as many weeks, I'll definitely have to get one ordered up.

Would have to be an 8 yard'er though. I'd feel the need to have it "Regimental Pleated" to the stripe.

Cool! Thanks for the link. I wonder why it didn't come up in any of my searches but I do see it now.
