    Kilt additions

I have an Irish Ambulance Service patch from an Irish paramedic friend of mine...right now it's in a frame on my wall..I've been thinking of adding it to my kilt down where a kilt pin would normally go...what do you think? At first I thought it wouldn't be accepted but I have seen Heavy Games athletes and some pipe bands who where such adornments...

I would not do it, just because it can b done does not mean it should be done to my mind anyway. I have seen patches on the front of a kilt but for the most part I really don't like the way it looks, there are exceptions like the recently posted punk kilt, I really did like that but I would stay away from one patch on the apron.

That's going to be a personal decision for you. Personally, I don't care for patches on kilts.

So you don't like USA Kilts Patch on the front of theirs?

I say its your kilt put what ever you want on it.

I have seen Army guys that had thier unit patches on the front of thier kilts I thought it looked good on a camo kilt so do what you want its your kilt.

I don't, speaking for myself. When the day comes that I buy a USA kilt, I will almost certainly remove their patch. As for other patches, I suppose it would depend on the patch, and the location.

As far as the USAK patches: they only come on the casual model. And, even at that, all you have to do is tell Rocky to nix it and it won't be there when it arrives.

Just my thought, but I think the patch would look better on a balmoral or caubeen.

Hang on, let me check the rule book.....dang can't find it! Oh that's right, there isn't one. You're going to get folks around here on either side of the debate. I for one may like a little more information. Is this kilt going to be worn as part of a formal ensemble or for more casual wear? Is this a traditional kilt? Semi-traditional? Tartan, or solid?

I think there are alot of variables, and in some circumstances the patch would look great.

I have seen this done, and have been considering it myself for one of my cheap acrylic kilts. Some Scots have an older kilt with a sewn on badge where the pin should be which they wear for air travel where a kilt pin would not be allowed.
