    Kilt on Campus

Well, I finally got my Amerikilt in, and I wore it the very next day on campus. For those who don't know, I attend Kansas State, also known as 'Cowboys R' Us.' Well, after receiving numerous negative responses before I wore the kilt, I was quite surprised by the reactions. Most people didn't even seem to notice. A few of the ladies gave me sidewards glances, but all the people who decided to comment gave me quite positive remarks. Maybe it's because I wore a white wifebeater tanktop(as they are known here) and showed off my celtic tat. However, I was more comfortable than I had ever been on campus, and I'll be wearing it quite often now.

I went to kilts full time since I make my living sitting down. Much more comfortable than them other things.

Would think that kilts would assist learning by being comfy sitting through lectures without distraction.

Wow, I'm not the only one in Kansas that wears a kilt! Outside of the McPherson pipers, of course.

Congratulation! It's amazing that when push comes to shove, when people actually see someone wearing a kilt, it becomes a non-issue. Enjoy!

It seems easier to "get away" with wearing a kilt on a college campus... supposedly people are more open minded, and one would hope more educated (not always... I have seen some bricks from time to time). I wear mine around school about 50% of the time.

Same here. Even at the local community college it's never (not rarely...never) been an issue. Of course I am an old fart with gray hair and a faculty name tag

So....now you will see about hose "friends" who said it was too wierd to stand, or that they wouldn't be seen with you, huh? It'll be pretty entertaining if a couple of the guys suddenly won't hang out with you....

...until they discover that the girls think the kilt is cool and then all of a sudden you're everybody's best friend. Might be a lesson there, eh?

But who knows? Only time will tell. Good on ya for wearing your kilt at school.

    My son,

Glad things went well. I guess you managed to figure out how to sit and not flash everyone. How did you do getting in and out of my truck? Just remember, if you are going to cook for a girl again wear a nicer shirt. A nice shirt along with the kilt will have them all fired up. I guess we'll really stir up the family come the holidays. Take care.

    Dad
