    Of Kilt Lenght(s)

    readers:
What Ho! do I see a 'trend' begining(again)? I am seeing photos of a flock of kilts to the mid-knee(OK by me -But Old Fashioned?!) & some that just clear the top of the hose, several photos where the top of the hose is covered by the kilt edge! My own kilt just touches the top of the knee-which my wife says is 'too short, a mans' mini-skirt"!tho it is the lenght of the military kilts of the 18th century. The very outdated Thompson Book opts for the shorter kilts. One tradesman(listed in the adverts above)opts for the mid-knee sorts.
What say the readers; what is the 'general consuses(sic) of the length of a kilt, circa 2011?

I go for top-of-the-knee myself, but many of the "younger set" seem to prefer their kilts longer. The "no skin showing" between kilt and hose is NOT a good look, IMHO....

Depends what you're trying to look like, I guess. Mine are at the top.

Slightly above the top of the knee, is the preference for me!

About the top of the knee is what I like, though I do have one kilt that comes closer to the center of the knee cap, and I don't mind it much either.

I vote top of knee even with a modern kilt.

Top of the knee for me, whether modern or traditional.

I'll admit that before I knew better, I thought middle of the knee or bottom of the knee looked right. This was based purely off of seeing others do it. But having since looked at innumerable photos and portraits of kilts worn by native Scots and seeing how it should be done, it's hard to see them worn that low without thinking it just isn't right.

I wear mine to the top of the knee, but to the middle of the knee looks good too.
