There are also some kiltmakers out there in the world who do have apprentices who "grow up" and go out into the world on their own eventually. I can highly recommend Bonnie Heather Green (aka Bonnie Heather here on the forum) as one who has done an apprenticeship with a woman named Ann Stewart (correct me if I am wrong Bonnie) and just recently went out on her own when Ann retired. Bonnie made a beautiful handsewn tank for me and I reviewed it here:

Another of Ann's apprentices I believe also recently joined the forum and was trying to start up her own business (I believe) after Ann retired, but I cannot remember her handle.
