    Kilt Question from a Newbie

    Hello All,

I am new to the boaed and also to the world of kilts. I have wanted one for years and have finally realized a dream. I have a queston that mabye some of the expericenced kilters can answer.

I have a thrifty kilt from jerry at Stillwater and I need some advice on fixing a couple of pulls in the threads.

    Thanks

    The Kilted Reverend.

    Pulled Threads.

    Welcome Sir!

As regards your "pulls": if these are just loops or loose ends of threads sticking out of the front surface of the material I deal with them thusly -
Take a needle and some cotton (light colour - easy to see) and push the needle through the material from the reverse, eye of the needle first. You need to do this as close as possible to the pulled thread. Then open a loop in the cotton by the needle eye and tuck the pulled thread into the loop. Then carefully withdraw the needle and in so doing pull the loose thread through the material. Its not a perfect solution, but from the outside it looks fine. Takes less time than it took me to write this!
I've used this method many times. You can get a device from sewing shops that is used to thread needles that also works (a loop of wire attached to a tab).

    Have fun!
