A kilt review (I got 2 of 'em)-Bobilicious
Hey Y'all,
Right off the bat, pics will be posted tonight-My brother is coming to pick his up, and we'll do shots together.
In the mean time, I want to review the 2 purchases. Right off the bat, I want to say this is the best 198.00$ I ever spent. These kilts are FANTASTICALLY put together and mine fits absolutely perfect. I ordered heather isles tartan , and my brother finally got his own tank in Montgomery. Both are 13 oz and beautifully crafted. These are machine stitched, but without a thorough inspection, you'd never know. I am absolutely thrilled and excited to be able to recommend Bobilicious' kilts to those who may be on the fence. I'm not sure about ordering your own tartan-I bid on his montgomery kilt auction, then asked if I could add another to the order. You may want to go to ebay and contact him via one of the auctions and ask possibilities for other tartans. He is very easy to work with.
Bobilicious get an enthusiastic grade of A+ - 100%. There is no better deal for a kilt anywhere on the market-PERIOD!!
Pics will speak for themselves later on in the show us your pic forum-Keep your eyes out.

Great. Hopefully he'll have my tartan some day.
I just received an Argyle jacket and waistcoat. I'll post pics later as well.
I really have nothing to compare to as it is my first.
BTW his ebay id is bobilishious

I also bought two kilts, a dark blue clergy and modern Robertson hunting, through Bob Chalmers d/b/a bobilicious on EBay and am quite happy with them. He was quite pleasant to work with, also, in answering questions and making sure I got what I wanted.

I bought one of his kilts for my dad. I have to agree, they're a great kilt for the money.

I was going to start my own thread... but I can suitably add my mini review here.
Yesterday my second Bobilishious kilt arrived. This one is another 8 yarder in 13oz material, this time in Scott Green Modern. This wasn't one of Bob's listed tartans. After the wonderful job he did with the Saffron kilt I won on eBay a while ago I contacted him to see if it would be possible to have a kilt made to measure in my own family tartan. He replied quickly to say that yes it is possible, though would cost a little more as he'd have to have the tartan woven. How much more? Well the Saffron cost 139 quid and the Scott Green cost me 185 quid. Not bad at all. I jumped at the opportunity and now I'm the proud owner of a class tank in family colours!!! The craftsmanship is brilliant and the fit is supreme! I already have a 5 yard kilt in the same tartan from Scotweb (Balmoral) and this tartan is exactly the same (from House of Edgar). Very pleasing that there is no colour variation due to mill differences... although I didn't even request where it was woven. I just hoped that the tartan would be the exact same one I already love. Perhaps HoE are the only ones who weave it?
When I contacted Bob to place the order he said it would be about 4 weeks for the kilt to be made. Almost 4 weeks to the day the kilt arrived here in Oz. Not bad at all.
I won't post any pics as Bobilishious' kilts have been dissected before and I've posted pics of my casual Scott Green before (and I don't have a photobucket account), but you can be assured it's a work of art! Oh, and twice now I've received bonus flashes (not mentioned at all in the eBay shop or elsewhere) in matching tartan.
If you're considering Bobilishious well stop the considering and hand over some money!!! God knows how he does it (or maybe He doesn't, ethereal as Bob's work seems to be) but this is outstanding quality at an affordable price.

Before you judge someone be sure to walk a mile in their kilt.
That way you are at least a mile away and you have their kilt...

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I'm just curious. You say your Scott Green modern tartan had to be woven for your order. You also say that it took about 4 weeks to get your kilt from the time you placed the order.
I just wonder about this because Scott Green modern is one of those tartans that is stocked by just about all of the tartan mills. It should be just as easy to get as any other tartan.
And even if it were custom woven, I don't see the kiltmaker getting the cloth in time to deliver the kilt in under 4 weeks. I'm familiar with how long it takes to get custom runs of cloth done by most of the major tartan mills, and it's much longer than that.
So I'm just slightly confused, but when I hear things like this it usually sends up red flags.

My bobolishious in the original movie Braveheart tartan is perfect, fits wonderfully, looks great, and was turned around after the ebay auction in just a little over a month, customed to my rather substantial size. Mine came in under $200US shipped, then I got a Paypal discount of that. The most comfortable kilt I own. Communication was great. I would order from him again, although I would wish he would set up a direct web site for his business instead of constantly having to go through ebay communications to get custom work done with tartans that he does not list on ebay.
I would, however, buy from him again, as he is the best value for the buck going right now for a nice machine sewn kilt. However I have two new handsewn kilt mistresses (and I mean that in the most positive way) whose work I am falling in love with and must say that I think I am turning toward only handsewns for the future. despite the added cost. Guess that means I am becoming a kilt snob. Oh well.

Sorry Matt, I assumed when Bob said to me he'd have to "get the tartan in" that that meant he had to wait for someone to weave it. My misinterpretation no doubt. My understanding is that Bob's tartans are usually surplus that haven't sold elsewhere and so that is why they're offered cheap. Because the Scott green isn't I expected to pay a bit more, and that extra expense still seemed to me to be outstanding value. I hope that makes more sense. At no time has Bob fed me false information or (in my mind) charged me too much. Quite the opposite in fact. And I've certainly never been of the impression the Scott green modern would be difficult to get hold of. I'm just chuffed it is exactly the same as my HoE scott green modern previously purchased.
