Kilted Decorum on Ladders

Was down in Hopi this weekend. My lady got an invite to a Hopi dance up on Second Mesa. We socialized with a few of her friend's families in the homes around the square where the Kachina's would dance. When dance time neared her friend said, "Why don't you go up on the roof for a better view?"

I'd managed this kilted once last year, but she and I were the only ones up and down the ladder then. This time we were part of a line. She, sensing the importance of decorum, urged me to go ahead of her as we went up the ladder to the roof. After the dance we were again in a line and this time she went down ahead of me.

She indicated her "blocking" was a good move since from her position there was no need to ask "the question."

An interesting side light...the kilted Kachinas also wore some garters that are worn similarly to the traditional flashes Matt sells. Of course the Kachina garters are much larger and have decorations. But here are Kachinas wearing kilts AND flashes of sorts.

That's the way Ron, while I like to be a gentleman and always allow ladies to go first, when it comes to ladders, steep staircases etc. I ask my wife to go behind me.
I've done a fair bit of ladder work as a signwriter. If there are not a lot of people around, I just work as usual in a kilt. If it's a problem area (people walking below me a lot, I slip a pair of shorts on which I keep in my truck for emergencies.
The number of times I need to use the shorts seems to be decreasing though.

I too think that some "blocking" is a very good idea. Yet my ladder work is very minimal compared to what Graham does.

I wear a kilt on a ladder when there is a need to do so as I paint and do repairs around my house. I never go regimental so if there WAS someone around no problemo!
As far a kilting on a ladder away from home that has not happened so far.
