    Exclamation Kilted In Deutschland

Just got back from a river cruise in Germany. Every one told me how cold I was going to be. More so when I told them I was going kilted. Everyone said I would freeze cerain parts of my anatomy off! I didn't. All of the thoughts about heat rising and being trapped were correct.
I quickly became the most celebrated tourist on the ship. Everyone wanted to take pictures with me, crew included Every one on board seemed to know my name. Going kilted is one h e double toothpicks of an ice breaker!
When I was ashore; same thing even with the locals and other tourists. There was also a lot of questions like was I a "Schottlander"? "Nein, Ich bin Irlander!" Pointed to my cap badge. The other question was , "Wasn't I freezing?" One english tourist said that I made her cold just looking at me.
Needless to say there were also a lot of stares. Counter acted by my own confidence and winning personality. I am internationally known as "Mr Irish"
Also dressed formally at the dinners which was a big hit,and lots more pictures.Lots of great people on the cruise and new friendships made all possible by the power of the kilt.

    Michael,

Sounds like you had a great time.
If you don't mind telling, what part/what river were you on?
I've taken some short day trips on some of the rivers, Rhine, Donau, Neckar, Elbe. It is a great way to see the countryside. I usually go in warmer weather though!

Excellent report! I'm going on an Alaska cruise in May and plan on being kilted full-time. This gives me an idea of what I may expect.

Guess if you'd learned the hard way, like me, about updrafts near the bow then you'd have mentioned it.

One lucky guy got the perfect question answering photo when the wind got my kilt just right on the Colorado River.

Of course he HAD to show it around.

Glad you had a fun cruise.
