    Kilted experience last weekend

Last Sunday I was eating lunch in a restaurant . . . a man comes up and asked whether the tartan (XMarks) was a clan or family tartan -- said he didn't recognize it. I responded that I belonged to an internet kilt discussion forum, and one of the members had designed the tartan, etc.

He smiled and said "oh, it's an online family or clan!"

I thought that that was a great description of this rabble . . . a very real family, though we're spread across the globe.

Thanks to all of you for your contributions!! (Especially today's thread about the ferrets -- I definitely needed the laughs! )

A virtual clan - what a fitting description and an interesting concept at the beginning of the XXI Century (CE).

So that means we need a kilt badge and all the other trappings: Folks, get yer thinking caps on!!!

My vote is that the badge would do well to have its clan saying in binary instead of the usual boring latin ;-)

There are 10 types of people in this world.

Those that understand binary and those that don't.

Are there any pics of the Xmarks tartan anywhere? I'd like to see it.

Look to the left and right if this box. That tartan is it. There is a standing order fro it through Steve at Freedom Kilts. If interested, CALL/EMAIL HIM.
    Best option:

    As for a "clan badge."
Many use the X Marks kilt pin on a hat (last order just sold out a few weeks ago, contact Kilted Code Warrior if interested in the next run). For pics, just "search" for "X Marks" "kilt pin" in the top blue bar.
Steve has a "buckle & strap) design, but it cannot be sold on the open forum (for a number of reasons). If interested, you have also to contact Steve to see what can and cannot be done. I'll stop on that.

This site is more than a forum, it is an extended family, sometimes separated by a common language.

Dread - that is the most subtle comment I have seen posted! Great work!

It's great that some outsider made this observation.

A former member expressed it well: friends are the family you choose for yourself. I like that, always have.
