    Kilted Golfing

So this past weekend (7 Oct), I went to play in a golf tournament with my church. Being a beautiful (albeit on the warm/hot side), I went wearing a kilt, kilt belt, sporran, hose, flashes, and sgian dubh. As I am sure you can imagine, I got some looks and heard some humorous comments such as, "Looks like we've got a Scotsman playing with us today!" as well as a random little old lady asking me why I was wearing a kilt. I've always loved playing golf, but this was the first time playing since I started wearing a kilt and I had a blast!

My game was horrible, unless you go by the thought of highest score winning.... but I always have been horrible at golf. However, I think that my outfit may have been lucky as I got my first, non gimme par.... it's sad that I see this as a great accomplishment...

    Don't judge!

Have a great day friends, and remember, if you play golf while kilted, you need to watch out for the draft while in the golf cart!

Always remember... low score in golf, high score in bowling.....I always get it reversed.

Also, to enjoy continued golfing, total cholesterol must be below a perfect bowling score.

Did the sporran interfere with your swing at all? Curious...

I'd love to be a member of the "574 yd par 5, on the green in two" club. Alas, the current state of my game is more "a ball, clubs and profanity" than anything called golf. (for really rough rounds, my scoring is if I find a ball on the course, it's minus 1 stroke... if I lose a ball it's a stroke. Still beats a good day at work, tho).

    Bravo on par!
    Fairways and greens!

I was fearful that the sporran would interfere, but surprisingly, it did not. I was wearing sporran hangers rather than a sporran belt or chain, and I had no issues at all. My good hole was on a par 4 (green in two then two putts... not very pretty, but I'll take it!). My game normally consists of "a ball, clubs and profanity" as well, but I also add hide and seek with my ball... Alas, I do love and hate that game!

My goal is to play 18 holes with the same ball. Hasn't happened yet...

Hell, I'd be happy to make it three holes with the same ball.

It wasn't easy, I'll say that.

It's been a few years now but I remember that one of our members posted that he had been turned away from St. Andrews Golf Course for wearing a kilt.

    From St. Andrews website:

    Dress Code

Golfers should wear attire appropriate to the sport and clothing should not be scruffy or torn. The dress code in the clubhouses is smart/casual.

If they don't allow kilts (at this time, it's interesting that they offer a silver kilt pin with St. Andrews logo.
