Kilted at K's School
Friday I took my daughter to school. I was kilted she was not. I spent all day about town and picked her up at 3:00pm. I was glad that I had gotten to spend a day kilted and was proud of most of the people around town. I got a call Monday night from My EX-wife (K's mom). She asked me if everything was ok at school on Friday. I told her that as far as I knew everything was fine. She then asked me if I wore a kilt to the school and why. I explained that I just wore the darn kilt...no real reason. She had be believing that someone had complained about it or that the teacher did not approve.
Since she attends a private school I didn't know what may be against the rules. To play it safe when I took her today I wore my jeans...and hated it. I asked the teacher this morning if my wearing a kilt to the school was ok and she was surprised. "I really didn't notice until someone pointed it out to me. I thought that it may have been some sort of heritage day. I thought it was cool." That was the jest of her response. I explained that I had recently gotten the kilt and that it was no special occasion other than I wanted to wear it. She encouraged me to wear it any time I felt the need, and said "I love to include activities in class that my students parents are into."
VERY VERY COOL TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suddenly I like Mrs. Cox a lot more than I did. (not that I didn't like her to begin with mind you.) Kudos to Mrs. Cox and Greenfield School!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:
I am reminded of the fishing song from Brad Paisley, if you have not heard it I recommend you do, it's hilarious. He is given an ultimatum by the wife/girlfriend to quit fishing or she's gone. The refrain includes a line as best I can remember that goes: "I'm gonna miss her...lookey here I've got a bite."
Well I can easily see substituting kilts for fishing...with equal results.

I was just thinking that this adventursome kilted streak in you made you feel good, and that I can see why your ex-wife IS your ex-wife, trying to bring you down for wearing the kilt and blame it onthe school situation somehow.
I too have/had an ex-wife with similar designs and attitudes. The best solution to it is to keep doing what makes you feel good, and if they find out about it or see it in person all the better to explain to them (silently) why you are no longer with them.
Also glad your daughter's teacher got a kick out of it. Never know it might kick off some kind of "international dress up day" with parents involved which would allow you even more opportunity to wear the kilt in school with pride and pre-approval. Now wouldn't that mess with your ex-wife's mind a bit.
Great story.

You really have to ensure that the EX wife is not allowed to control your choice of clothing!
