    Kilted Speech?

Alright, I'm giving a speech for my college speech class in two weeks. It has to be a persuasive speech and I've decided to give a speech trying to persuade people to wear kilts. I've decided my audience will be anywhere from neutral to disagree on the subject. I've already gotten a list of things I want to go over in my speech but I was hoping that you guys (and gals) could tell me some of the advantages of wearing a kilt so I can see if I forgot something (which I'm sure I have). Any and all input would be AWESOME! This is my final speech and I'm so enthusiastic about it that I'm sure I've forgotten a few things. And of course I'll be kilted (a utilikilt. Hoping for a USAK semi-trad sometime around Christmas though ) while giving my speech, as I always am.

Mountains divide us and the waste of seas.
Yet still the blood is strong, the heart is Highland,
And we in dreams behold the Hebrides.

It's easier to moon politicians and escape. You can run faster with your kilt up than with your pants down.

Also include the fact that in the particular region covered by the kilt, men are anatomically designed to wear it versus women being more anatomically designed to wear pants.
And shepherds we shall be, for thee My Lord, for thee.
Power hath descended forth from thy hand,
that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command.
We shall flow a river forth to thee,
and teeming with souls shall it ever be.

If you're going to be kilted as you say you are I'd suggest that you give your speech on anything but the kilt but be prepared for the questions about the kilt.

    Bubba, you crack me up!

I would also add that kilts give the wearer so many more fashion and color choices over pants. I mean really, I had basically 3 colors of pants before I started wearing kilts, khaki, navy, and olive green. Sometimes you might see a nice herringbone patterm but it usually involved one of thos colors and black. Oh, I forgot about plain black trousers, never saw the need for them, too boring. Now I can wear a kilt that incorporates multiple colors in the tartan, which both opens up my choices for what to wear with it, and also forces me (but I like it) to coordinate clothes! And it is fun!

Now that may not appeal to everyone in your audience initially, but I guarantee it will take root in somebody's mind.

    heritage!

And of course, for many of us, the most important reason: our Scottish heritage. You could briefly discuss the kilt as Highland attire, tartans, etc.
