Kilted on Thanksgiving Day in Vegas

For Thanksgiving Day and the following weekend, the family and I went to Las Vegas, NV, USA.
On the flight to and from this city in the desert, I was not kilted, simply because I did not want any trouble from the TSA.
However, once we had arrived at the Luxor Hotel, I wore my Black UK for our entire stay.
We visited a number of places along the Strip, shopping, out to dinner, gambling, etc.
It was a great time and no one seemed to mind that I was kilted.

These were some of the comments that I received during my stay:
One gal grabbed me and wanted a picture with me.
Another gal at a New York New York pub turned and said "O my, a man in a kilt!".
A fellow said, in passing, "Nice Kilt." I thanked him. My wife was impressed.
Upon leaving the hotel for the parking garage, a group of kids stopped and one said, "Look! There's a man from Scotland!"
Moments later, a group of English soccer players walked by and one said, "There's a bloody Scotsman."
While at breakfast, our hostess asked if I was from Scotland. I said no. And she proceeded to tell me about her visit to Scotland.

All and all, it appears that wearing a kilt in public is ok. Of course, this is Las Vegas and there were a lot folks from different parts of the world, which means a lot of cultural dressing. But having said that, it was great to stroll about and enjoy the freedom that a kilt provides.

I am so happy that you had positive experiences in Las Vegas. But what a shame that your camera got broken and all your dozens of pictures of you in a kilt got destroyed.

I wore my kilt to Las Vegas last year. My wife was worried that I was still in the casino and called security. She said that I was wearing a kilt. They never did find me.



Just a note about TSA at the Las Vegas Airport. Don't show up during shift change. I got the full nylon glove treatment at 08:00 hrs. Not a good memory of Vegas.

Yes, I remember visiting the pub. Not a bad hangout.
