    Kilted visits round Inverness

I'm fiiinallllly getting to posting pics from the trip Marsha (my wife) and I took to visit our family heritage places in May of this year.

Rait Castle is where my clan (MacIntosh) outwitted a Cumyns ambush in the 14th century, re-taking the castle and creating a haunting in the process. We looked for an hour to find this place--and succeeded.

Here's my lovely assistant at the same site. It was awesome to find the place still standing and lovely amidst a farmer's field.

And not too far away is Clava Cairns, haunting standing stones and tombs amidst an oak grove; very mystic.

And then a sad visit to Culloden and this marker, where so many of my brave ancestors gave their lives for nought.

"Super pictures of the flat bit of Inverness-shire!" Jock Scott said, and I say...Thanks so much Jock, that is high praise indeed considering your awesome pictures of the high bits of the area!

Thanks for posting the pics. I love the tartan. I missed Rait Castle on my visit, but made it to the Clava Cairns. Next time . . .

Super pics, I always enjoy viewing my home country through the eyes of our visitors. I am glad you were able to visit Scotland. Clava Cairns and Culloden are both very poignant places.

As a Comyn, let me just say: you all were just lucky!
