Smile Kilted at Work

I work for a major national bank and have very specific dress code (which most everyone ignores). But on Friday we have casual day. A couple of weeks ago (national tartan day to be specific) I decided that casual friday should be Kilted Friday. Every friday I am now wearing akilt into work with a button down shirt or polo shirt. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. I'll be walking through the halls and get a "hey I like that outfit". I do get a few double takes but so far no blatent negative remarks. And since we a currently on a big diversity push I donn't think I'll get any flack from HR. Now I've got to get to making myself more kilts to wear in or I'm going to have a very limited wardobe.

You know, that's where I'm at too. We have casual Fridays where everyone wears jeans, so I figure if others can wear jeans, I can certainly wear a kilt!
So...that's what I do.
Same response here. No negs at all. Lots of positives, although I do get some people getting cases of severe whiplash!

John,

What a great way to promote the wearing of kilts! Sounds like you've managed to gain acceptance in a very positive way. And a great excuse for making more...

Cheers,

way to go!!!

I havn't not worn my kilt to work since I got it! great responses from every one, even been asked where I got it couse most can't fathom wearing a $700 kilt to work! honestly neither can I, so I inform them that my SWK cost only a little more than a good pair of slacks, so I'd rather wear a kilt!

i'm happy for ya Turtle.

i work in an office park (i'm kilted everyday), and there is a lending company next to us. my boss got stopped by one of their employees cause she wanted to let us know that she corrected her co-workers. one day she noticed her co-workers (she described them as a bunch of good-ole-boys) talking about this guy next door that wears a dress or sk*rt all the time. she corrected them and said it was a kilt. my boss confirmed all this, and added "he's a programmer". our next door neighbor responded with "OH, ok". as if everything all made sense. like my "odd behavior" can be excused cause i am "one of those programmer types".

just cause i score "Extreme Geek" on the geek test; doesn't mean that kilt wearing is a geeky thing.

oh well. i'm not letting the ignorance of others bother me.

My current job wont let me wear a kilt as I have to wear the provided uniform BUT... I might be able to wear a kilt at the job I'm applying for now!

Kilted at work. Now that's my idea of heaven!
