    Kilts and the Clients

Last night I had dinner with a major sponsor of the rugby tournament that my team is hosting in May. During dinner, one of my teammates happened to come to the same restaurant and stopped by to say a quick hello.

He made the comment that I was not in a kilt (I opted for the Hugo Boss suit that night) and I said that I didn't have anything truly formal enough for a client dinner. He said I could have worn my Stillwater Blackwatch standard to which I replied that, for me, it was more of a phillabeg than a true formal kilt.

His jaw dropped when I said "phillabeg" and he said, "You know what a phillabeg is!?!? You even know the word 'phillabeg'?!?!? This kilting thing is out of control."

My sponsors, with whom I had been discussing kilts that night, were loving every minute of it...

It is great to hear that others are fairly knowledgable about the Kilt. It sure makes it easier for us to educate them.

Now what is this about not wearing the Kilt? (OK tongue out of cheek now)

WEll he's now given me the title of "Kilt Maven" which, quite frankly, makes me wonder how the heck to react to that....

As for no kilt that night, well...I didn't know how it would have gone over so I erred on the side of the $$$ that the sponsors were giving... 8-)
