Klingons in Kilts

Has anyone ever heard of Klingons in Kilts? Anyone here a member? It looked like a great way to introduce another bunch of people to kilts and such kilted life.

I remember a pic of one SOMEWHERE in the long, long, long Kilts Does and Don't thread. No I have NO IDEA where it is in that beast.

It got mixed reviews. It WAS worn correctly, but people had issues as to its appropriateness.

Personally, I thought it fine.

BUT, I also put Jedi in kilts . . .

I've never seen a Klingon in a kilt but I did meet the crew of the Klingon Battle ship "Destroyer"! I was at Mideval Dinner and Tournament about 10 years ago ... I heard some talking around a corner and recognized it as Klingon (yea, I'm a Star Trek fan). I walked in to find about 25 people dressed up in the most convincing Klingon outfits and make-up I'd ever seen. I met the Commander, Engineer, Commo Officer and a host of others.

During the Tournament part of the show the Knight with the Klingons was just having a ball with it. As he road by the Klingons would yell, "Kaplagh!" (means Victory). While others seemed annoyed or ammused by these folks I was fascinated.

I was deeply impressed by their dedication to something that had no real purpose other than fellowship and excitement. It occurred to me that to be dedicated to anything at all when so many in the world seem dedicated to nothing at all was admirable. It was a profound experience for me and I've thought about it off and on for years.

When I first went kilted full time I caught hell from family ... I remembered the odd looks and thoughtless comments that were made just out of sight and earshot of those Klingons ... I thought of the obvious joy that they had in giving themselves to something with fervor and a total lack of concern for the opinions of others.

Those Klingons were not kilted, at least not on the outside, but maybe they had kilted hearts. All I know is that they gave me strength when I needed it to make the leap into kilts, not just for the good of my health, but because of the joy it gives me to be kilted. I think of them often and I'm thankful for having met them.

As I sit and write this post the memory of that Knight riding past his Klingon mates, his sword and shield flashing in the light, his Klingon encouragers, blind to the scrutiny of less happy observers, waving their glasses and shouting KAPLAGH, KAPLAGH!! ... well, somehow I think they'd be proud of me, proud of us, for embracing the joy of kilting.

Kilt On and KAPLAGH to every single member of this forum.
