Lack of burgundy hose in highland stores

A few weeks ago I wanted a pair of burgundy hose but they did not stock that colour in my local shop (in fact no redish type colours at all) so I searched on t'net and found them difficult to find at a price that does not require a loan secured on you house. Then I found this site and ordered 2 pairs and very nice they are.

Nice find Chris, thanks for passing it along. I'm not familiar with this vendor, have you had any other dealings with them? Their jacket prices seem quite reasonable as well. If they seem a reputable vendor, I'll put them on my list for future inquiries.

    Chris.
That's a good find, Chris. that looks close to House of Cheviot's claret, which I like very much. I'm also a fan of purple; but there might be a niche in between---more of a red-purple burgundy, less red than the claret.

At some point, we just need to find yarn & get someone to make the socks. Or dye it to match our preference, as some of the custom hose are done.

Luckily for my education, the red part of the spectrum is not ignored around XMTS!

This was the first purchase from them. I somehow screwed up during the on-line order and ended up with 3 separate orders for 2 pairs on each order, 6 pairs in total. The guy from thair sales rang me next morning to query that I actually wanted 6 pairs or had I made some mistake. I had paid by PayPal and the 3 transactions had gone through. I said I only wanted 2 pairs and he said he thought that would be the case and immediatly refunded 2 of the transactions. He shipped the 2 pairs the same day and I received them 2 days later.
I would have no problem buying from them again.

Nice catch on their end. At least it sounds like their customer service department is up to snuff. Let us know how you like the quality of the hose when they arrive. And pictures...!

House of Cheviot and Almost Unwearoutable carry all sorts of kilt hose in reddish hues.

Yup, I love my claret hose (claret is pretty much the same as burgundy). For those shopping on this side of the pond, we stock the claret in the Lewis line.

Claret is also available in the Rannoch hose, and the Skye (for those with larger calves).

I almost bought the hose in the burgandy color while I was in Endiburgh 2 weeks ago, but did not have my size. I was actually looking for red. It was very hard to find red. Except for the House of Chevot....expensive, but great quality.
