    Left speechless

This does not happen very often, but this morning I was left completely speechless. I awoke this morning to the desire to don the kilt. I have not worn the kilt a lot recently due to some recent weight loss that required our own Cavscout to remove 3 inches off of my kilt belts.

So while retrieving my diet coke this morning, a gentleman entered the establishment with a bang. He was very loud and gregarious and was talking a mile a minute (think a used car salesman on late night TV). As he approached the machine I was standing at two things came to mind immediately.... One, this is a big boy (over 6"6') and that is the loudest Hawaiian shirt I had ever seen.

As he approaches he yells out "Hey Dude! What's with the SKIRT?" As I was getting ready to retort the lady standing next to me said even louder "It's a kilt, you moron!"

I dang near dropped my soft drink in surprise as I did not even see her standing there. Our mutual friend immediately dried up, got his coffee, and slunk out of the store without another word.

Meanwhile, the young lass and I had a nice conversation on the kilt and how much she enjoyed seeing a man brave enough to wear one in public. The conversation drew quite a crowd and a lot of questions...

What a great start to a Friday morning.

    excellent, good for her.

It's good to watch as someone else steps up and defends the kilt before you have a chance to do it yourself, this has happened to me a time or two. Good for her, she's good people. Did you buy her a soft drink?

That is indeed one of the best kinds of kilt encounters. It happens all too seldom, alas, but when it does it's certainly memorable.

That's awesome! I had a similar experience a while ago. Our last secretary was half Scot- her mother was native- and this... wonderful person... I work with who used to harass me a lot made some snide comment to her about talking to cross dressers, and asked where my pantihose were. He was obviously trying to impress her, showing off how manly he is and all that. She shot back with "My father and brother wear kilts, a**hole!" Guess who hasn't bothered me since... It's great when the ladies- especially hot ones- come to your defense.

And Galb- I did lose all composure. I just about fell over laughing. I learned the truth behind the old saying about busting a gut.

Wow, great Friday morning eh. I haven't had any trouble yet, but I'm still fresh to kilt wearing, so I'm sure I have some in my future.
