locharron - out if stock...
Well just had an enquiry go in to Locharron about 16oz modern maclean of duart... Out of stock eta november...
Not sure if i was just unlucky, or if people have been panic buying since they were just sold off to the south koreans...
So now i get to wait an EXTRA 8 to 12 weeks...
can anyone with both tell me if DC Dalgleish's custom 16oz weave is better than locharron strome? If i have to wait for locharron im wondering if i should just wait for dalgleish instead... Looks to cost more, but not so much that i wouldnt do it...

All things being equal, go with Dalgleish.

Having heavyweight kilts in both fabrics, I like the Dalgleish more than the Lochcarron, also the Dalgleish has a true selvedge rather than the tuck in one with Lochcarron

It's not a 'panic' thing... they are just playing the numbers (the number of yards) close to the vest. When most mills are getting close to running out of a tartan (down to 1 or 2 kilt lengths), they put it on the weaving schedule. Lochcarron is waiting until it is out of stock AND someone places an order for it. That first unlucky chap will have to wait 12 weeks (their current turnaround time) PLUS the time it takes their kiltmaker to make up the kilt.
That being said, Marton Mills carries MacLean Duart (both the modern and the weathered) as stock tartans.

They must be doing MacLean of Duart still? Half the pipe bands in the country wear it...
I've told you a million times John, don't exaggerate!

It's not really an issue to me... MM was an "also ran" in my decision process really...
That kilt pic has all the elements to make a great wallpaper with... Just replace the name with a tape measure... Move the threads etc down a little lower into the lower 1/3 of the pic... Sorted...
