If you own your home you could take out a home equity line of credit and pay it back as a second mortgage.

Several of the kiltmakers on this forum (Barb T, Rocky, etc.) make kilts for a flat fee plus cost of the material, running from $400-$550 or so. If you know what you want you could pm them for a quote. At least you'd have a target to save for.

Most kilt vendors will charge you 50% of the purchase price up front and the other 50% when sewing begins or the kilt is shipped. It takes 8 to 12 weeks for many kiltmakers to complete your order. That give you a little breather in between.

Look at www.greatscotshop.com they have a payment plan that charges around $ 65.00 a month to you crdit card until the kilt is paid for.

    Sorta Payments...

Kathy Lare will take a down payment, then ask for the balance after the kilt is complete and ready to ship. Depending on her backlog you may have to wait six to eight weeks, but that gives you plenty of time to save up the second payment.

    Not sure about other kiltmakers.

Of course the other way is plastic. If you don't have plastic already I'm sure your local bank would be happy to lead you down the path of eternal kilt debt.

That's almost as bad as the mortgage idea.
