    LumaTwill - Refective woven tweed

I really wanted to share this fabric with you guys since I know that you would appreciate the coolness of it. I found this company online called DashingTweeds in the UK.

Dashing Tweeds is Britain’s latest tweed textile company. Opening up a contemporary arena for a classic quality fabric, Dashing Tweeds has created a range of tweeds for the 21st century, designed by photographer Guy Hills and weaver Kirsty McDougall.
A unique weave of wool worsted and reflective yarn, LumatwillsTM appear by day only in their smart combination of colours. By night, under illumination, hidden reflective lines shine out, offering an inventive and stylish solution to attire for the pedestrian, cyclist or scooter rider.

I had gotten a bunch of samples from them to see and wow... it is such beautiful fabric! The weave is smooth and soft and the colors are really stunning but most of all, I love the LumaTwill. I ordered in a yard each of three of the weaves...

Here are some photos of it in action -

Looking nice under no flash photography...

But when you add the flash you catch the LumaTwill.

Wowsers. That is genuinely fascinating, and it could save the lives of some of us staggerin' hame frae th' pub.

Seriously: I'm not sure what the demand level might be like, but I think it's a great concept!

That's a really cool idea, I'd like to see something made out of those fabrics

It is a cool idea. There was a tartan done for the Return to the Ridings similar to this

    That's pretty cool.

I'm wondering what the weight of this fabric is.

Also, have you taken an iron to it, and if so, how well do you think it will hold a pleat?

Of course the BIG worry is that you will photograph bizarrely. "WTH are you wearing in THIS pic?!"

A cool fabric indeed, perhaps for an Inverness cape for late night strolls in the fog.
