    Lunch with the Mayor

Yes I had lunch with the Mayor today. Well OK me and about 498 other people, but hey I did have lunch with him.

It is part of his initiative to end homelessness here in Denver within 10 years. He asked several groups, churches, neighborhood groups, and civic organizations to become involved and mentor those who are homeless into places of residences.

OK with all that attention and media present, one would think that some guy wearing a kilt would stand out. Nothing, NADA, Zilch. Of course I did sort of lay low and stood around many people so maybe that prevented many from seeing me, but alas it was not seen. I guess it proved to me that wearing a kilt, one can blend in and not stand out. It is a regular garment.

Well, there are a few things that can overshadow a kilt Glen ;) of course, you are quite dashing as we already know and considering how comfortable you are wearing kilts people might not have taken particular notice since your behavior is not of one crying out for attention.

...... yes but in and amongst all the kilts on display there Glen, you know what unequivocally stands out? Glen's devotion to his fellow man and those in need.

    New worthy

It’s my impression that kilts get attention on slow news days. Several weeks ago it was such a slow news day in Spokane that braking news was about a turkey shot by an arrow! I’m sure it is as Rob says, but some how I’m happy that you in a kilt was not deemed news worthy.

This Missourian bows as well, Glen. I'm a pretty easy going guy, but the fact that we have people in this wealthy country that are homeless, children going to sleep hungry at night, and people that cannot get adequate medical coverage - these are things that really push my hot buttons!

You honored all of us that wear the kilt by your presence.

    End homelessness! End homelessness!

Methinks Hizzoner has been guzzling a few too many of his Wynkoop beers.

I happen to be in a business where I'm privy to certain information - namely, that evictions and foreclosures are going through the roof for at least the next three years. There will, I assure you, be more homeless people.

Now, the bums and winos on the street corners and freeway offramps are a different story. The simplest solution would be to round them up and bus them to San Francisco where they'll be welcomed with open arms and free government money. And lest anyone think me mean-spirited, consider that Detroit is holding Super Bowl parties for their "homeless." Clue: it's to keep the "homeless" off the streets while tourists are in town.

Pass that along to the Governor when you have lunch with him, would ya, GMan? :-o I wouldn't give too much credit to the kilt for blending in, though. I'm guessing such a crowd sees far more oddities on the 16th Street Mall on a daily basis. In fact, I bet some of them ARE the 16th Street oddities. Congrats on being odd... and normal. Yeah. I think that's how it goes....!
