    Which MacGregor?

I was going to make a poll but couldn't figure it out.

I've ordered two swatches from Matt Newsome, 16 oz. Strome, for a box-pleated kilt.
What does everyone think and which one does everyone like?
I used the images from Matt's site, hope its ok.

I've always liked the MacGregor in Ancient colours.

Well, look at it THIS way:

Do you like colors in more RED and HUNTER green?
    OR
Do you like colors in more ORANGE-ish and KELLY to MINT green?

Personally, I like the one on top (weathered).
The MacGregor ancient always reminds me of Miami (Hurricanes OR Dolphins).

I like them both if it were up to me and I could only pick one I would go for the weathered as it seems a wee bit more subdued than the ancient and therefore to my mind would be easier to co-ordinate.

Better still go for the Weathered now and the Ancient later.

It might depend on where you think you might wear it most often and what kind of impression you want to give. The ancient colors pop and will help you stand out in a crowd. They certainly seem fun, but I can see them working at a more formal affair, too. The modern, being more muted, tend toward the more conservative. They're not necessarily more sophisticated, but maybe more laid back.

    Oh heck...get one of each.

David - if you want a poll, when you start a new thread, before you submit scroll down to the bottom of the page. You will see a section ADDITIONAL OPTIONS with the information to make a poll.

And my vote - the weathered, but then I am partial to weathered tartans in general.

    David,

Your sample swatches were sent out in the mail today.

I've also emailed you some photos of kilts I have made in both tartans, so you can see what they look like in a box pleated kilt.

My personal preference is for the weathered, but that's simply because I like the colors better. If you are a big orange fan, then you may prefer the ancient.

I vote weathered, but my opinion matter's not. Only yours. I would suggest that you listen to your kilt maker's views to help you with your decision.

I vote weathered. The green goes better with the red background than the blue does.
