    Made an example

So, we attended the "Permian Basin Heritage Fest" (Midland TX) today. It was nothing too impressive. A bit of Celtic Rock music, some Highland dancing, a few clan booths and a couple of vendors. While I was perusing through some bonnets in a vendor's booth, I heard the older gentleman running it (thick Scottish accent) explaining a "proper kilt" to a guy about my age. The shop owner noticed me and says "AW! Like this lad! Come over here and show him a proper kilt.". I grinned and shook the gent's hand. He explained to the young guy that I was wearing it correctly on my waist and NOT the hips. He pointed out that the kilt fell at the right length and was well made. He told me he was impressed with my choice of brown accessories seeing as it was day wear. He said not enough yankees knew the difference and "protocol." Pretty cool. He was a bit confused by my ears though

Oh, and I was wearing my Newsome boxpleat (Henderson weathered)

Dangit, now I'm really upset that I didn't get to go. Midland is my stomping grounds but just couldn't get away for the day...

    Panache,
Yes my time on Xmarks has proven quite fruitful eh?

    Roisondubh,
    You didn't miss much.

    CCGA,
The ears confused him; not freaked. He wondered if I also had some sort of "Islander" heritage. He said I looked very traditional all around. I understood what and why he meant.
