    Multicultural Scottish mix

Just back from a trip to my local supermarket here in Edinburgh for the week's shopping. While there I saw a Sikh family (father, mother and little girl) with the father in traditional turban, beard and plain black kilt (most likely from 21st Century Kilts here in the capital).

Well, this is Scotland after all...

That is very cool, I would think this shows that kilts are becoming more accepted.

That sounds very cool to me, but somehow I doubt that my Levi's jacket and Stetson hat would look good with my kilt.

But it is nice to see other cultures embracing the kilt as accepted daily wear.

That is very cool! I love the blend of cultures. When we were in Edinburgh, we went to a take-out called, IIRC, Popeye's. The man there had the most amazing blend of a Scottish/Indian accent (to my Canadian ears). We had a good yak!

oh I don't know a Levi's jacket is cut short. Might go with a denim kilt. BTW that's great Niblox. I wonder if he kept his kirpan in his hose.

Apparently a large Scottish shop in Edinburgh is owned by Sihks.

    Post Sikh tartans

There are two tartans designed by Lord Singh, a Scottish Sikh:

Lord Singh also commissioned a translation of Burns' poetry into Punjabi, and pressed for Prestwick Airport to be renamed Robert Burns International.

The Indian Army's Sikh Regiment, 3rd Battalion, is still known as "Rattray's Sikhs", named after the Scot who organized them, Captain Thomas Rattray, and their pipers wear the Rattray tartan in his honour.

    Cheers,

    Todd

Dang Todd, you beat me to it. I was going to bring up the fact that some Sikh's have a very strong Scottish background, and several generations have grown up in Scotland. The history of their working together with the Scottish Regiments is long and glorious!

    Some fighters!
