My Apologies
My son was diagnosed with leukemia this past weekend. Those of you that I am making sporrans for, I will get them out. I may be a little late, but, they will be done. Right now we are trying to find financial aid for him. He just turned 24 on the first of April. My insurance company, in there infinite wisdom, is dropping him due to his age. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

I'm vexed to hear that, Donnie.

Wow... Having worked in the medical field for several years as a nurse, I have developed a particular hatred of the insurance bullsh... business. It exists for the sole purpose of screwing healthy people out of their money, and then not giving them anything in return without a huge fight. My mother had knee replacement surgery 5 years ago and the surgeon is still trying to get paid. It's sickening. There are so many horror stories that health care professionals can tell about insurance companies... What a ripoff. Legal theivery.
Anyways...
Donnie, my wife and father have both been touched by cancer in recent years. Theirs wasn't lukemia to be sure, but still, it's scary and I empathize. Good luck to all of you- you have a long road...

Donnie-
My darling baby sister was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenic Leukemia last year. She used to be worried about aging, but she is now thrilled that she will be 40 in June. She needn't have worried because she still turns the heads of the teen aged boys I work with. Anyway...the upshot is that we were quite worried but she will likely live to be an old lady. Some Leukemias are highly treatable and survivable. I hope and pray that your son is one of those lucky enough to have the same variety my sister has - failing that I pray for a miracle. They're doing marvelous things in Leukemia research these days.
Regards,
Brian
