My first kilt - SWK arrived
I learned a new word - jonesing. My SWK black "shadow tartan" finally arrived today. This being my first I have nothing to compare it to but upon close inspection it is top quality workmanship. A special thanks to Jerry V at SWK for going above and beyond for clearing Canada Customs with no fuss. My fellow Canadians I am highly recommending dealing with Stillwater Kilts.
I ordered a 36" as I measured 36". I was a little concerned as a thread was started regarding SWK an ordering one size smaller. This thread started the day after I ordered my kilt. It fits perfectly at the smallest holes... now I have room for "personal growth".
Upon receiving it today I asked my wife if she would like to wrap it as a belated Christmas gift from her. She rolled her eyes and said you bought a skirt? I immediately put it on and she laughed. My 6 yo daughter came over and also said that daddy is wearing a skirt. I then went upstairs an got completly kitted out with stuff I been collecting these past months. When I came back down, one look from the wife and she couldn't stop laughing. You have a purse. No honey, it's called a sporran. She called my pin a brooch. Then made comment about my "socks". Actully they are called "hose" well she lost it she's now in hysterics. All in all she took it better than expected. She will come around for I have a support group over 1700 strong.
I shall be presenting the new me at the Oakville kilt night this Saturday... and I will be kilted!
Thanks to all for their encouragement and advice.
The Grant.

Congratulations on the first kilt. Please post some pictures. Show your wife this forum and she'll soon realise kilts are a perfectly normal phenomenon.

Congrats on the new kilt. I have one SWK and one on the way, and have nothing but praise for their quality and swift delivery.

I ordered my kilt just after Christmas and it made it here today, through customs. You shouldn't have to wait too much longer. Congrats on your upcoming nuptuals.

Well done! The SWK Black Shadow Tartan is a Jack-of-all-kilts. It can be dressed up or down and matches everything. I believe I read on Matt Newsome's blog that solid black kilts have been adopted by the people of Cornwall.
Make sure to post some pictures and enjoy your new kilt.
