My Great Kilt came in handy

I was sitting out on my deck this evening with a fire going in the firepit I have out back, just enjoying the evening, and reading a book. Wife was downstairs watching the idiot box, and my two girls were in bed upstairs.

All of the sudden, the power goes out. Unfortunately, this is a very common occurence in my area, and the winds were high tonight, so it was to be expected I guess. It wasn't long before the kids came downstairs afraid of the dark etc.

So, the whole family gathered on the deck in front of the fire, my wife and I with a kid each in our laps. Fending off the cold was my blackwatch great kilt. Never better to have 15 feet of wool blanket handy. It wrapped around the whole family a couple of times over, with plenty left to spare to tuck into places where the wind gusted. My youngest daughter asked why I had my Kilt outside, and I got to explain how the great kilt was a multi function garment/blanket/shelter to the early scots.

We all sat outside, wrapped in my kilt until the power came back on about 45 minutes later, it was great family time, all too rare these days.

Well then I must conclude that you were not "traditionally" attired at the time!

HAHA. Sounds like he hadn't been wearing the kilt at the time, he mentioned one of the kiddos asked why he had it outside.

It was one of those assumptions I tend to make from time to time.
