My new Matt Newsome 4-Yard Box Pleated Kilt

Hello everyone. I thought I would share a few photos of my new Matt Newsome 4-yard box pleated kilt (Bates tartan STA 6057).

The (16oz) tartan was woven by D.C. Dalgliesh, and I must say that I am very impressed by the precision, and overall quality of the material. For just under $500, Matt's 4-yard box pleated kilt really is an excellent choice for those looking for an affordable option in a non-stocked tartan.

I am very happy with the look, fit, and craftsmanship of this kilt.

For some reason my attachment url did not work, so here are a couple of links to the kilt photos.

    Fantastic!
I love the decision (who ever made it) to hide the bright green inside the pleat. It's a wonderful piece, congratulations to you both.

I'm itching to order my own Newsome, but have to wait until I finish the tartan design and square up a few other odds and ends.

Matt looked at the tartan swatch on STA site and gave me the option of pleating to show more green or red in the back pleats. I elected for green and Matt seemed to think that was a good way to go.

I'm not sure whether or not this pleating option is available on all tartans. I suppose it helps to have a tartan with two bold contrasting colors.

So well lit for an indoor pic. A beautiful tartan for sure and bound to get a lot of use in the coming holidays eh?

Just had a special weave from Dalgliesh myself - was also amazed at how affordable and how short the wait.

    Here, see if these help...

I'm glad you are enjoying the kilt -- it looks great on you. Just for clarification, the "under $500" price is for a box pleated kilt from a custom woven tartan, which this was. That price is $495. I charge $395 if the tartan is available from stock.

WOW! That is indeed a handsome tartan, and the choice of pleating is just perfect for it. I really, really like that whole look you've got going on there, ragged tiger!

    That is gorgeous!

Matt makes one hell of a kilt - I've got two kilts being made at the moment but I'd love to add a Newsome BP to my list - you can't not want one when you see photos like that!
