My son went to school today in his Gordon kilt !

My son Ben went to school today dressed in his Gordon Highlander's kilt. Genuine MoD circa 1974. Even had matching flashes and real kilt hose today. The trainers look a little off, but hey, he's 14. It takes stones to wear the kilt at all around here, let alone being a 14 year old male in the 8th grade. Parent/teacher conferences are later today, and it is a "student led" conference. That means he will be doing most of the talking, and largely evaluating his own performance as a student (which is quite good, I am very proud of him).

Now, the big question is, do I wear Gordon to the conference as well, or something else ? Hmmnnn....

I am going to try to remember to snap a picture of him later. I did not get it done this morning on the way out.

Definitely Gordon----demonstrates family involvement, support, stability and solidarity to the teachers and administrators. Heck, just the fact that you are showing up shows a lot of that stuff--why not go the whole route.

Congratulations, this should be a memorable day for both of you. Pictures required, of both of you.

Being a school teacher, I think it is awesome that he wore a kilt to school. That takes a lot of guts to do it. I don’t know what to tell you about what tartan you should wear. I still just think it is cool that he wore a kilt to school. I have tried to get my students to do it (I know some of them have one), but no luck so far. You are a great parent!

I bet it goes over really welL!!! I remember whe nI was in the 8th grade, I wore my kilt outfit t oschool and took my pipes with me and marched around the courtyard area, and had about 40 kids following me in perfect line!! Including all my friends who I thought for sure would think themselves "too cool" for that, but htey were the ones who told me to march around! Especially nowadays, I think its even more the trend to "be yourself" and not conform to everyone else's standards...SO GOOD FOR HIM!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah..Just a head's up..I would wear a different tartan....wearing the same garment as your dad...ok...wearing the EXACT garment that your dad is...maybe a little over the top. Know what I mean?
