    My tartan day experience

I live in Caithness, Scotland and there was nothing happening for tartan week up here. But I was determined to wear my kilt for tartan day, so here's how it went.

I had to pick up a few things in Thurso so...

1st stop. Autoparts. A few bits for my son-in-law's car.
Now I have been in there many times before and he has just left me to it (it is a self service type of store) But this time, " Can I help you sir" Never been called sir before. And he leaped out from behind the counter and got me what I wanted.

2nd stop. Geddes farm supplies. Called to pick up a large bag of Dr Johns dog food for my Daughter's dogs, a Lurcher and a border collie. It is on a account and I usually pick up the bag myself and put it in the boot of my car. But this time he leapt out from behind the counter and picked up a bag and placed it in the boot of my car for me. I said thank you very much and he said your very welcome sir. ( there's that Sir again)

3rd stop. Co-Op supermarket in the centre of town.
Mostly used by middle aged folk. A lot of smiles and a very nice comment on how smart I looked by the checkout lady.

So all in all a very very nice day. I did not see another kilted person all day.

It's a shame to hear there was no one else kilted in your area but it's always awesome to hear of a good day kilted.
It seems a good day kilted beats a great day in p@nts anytime.

Heck, a crappy day in a kilt beats a good day in pants! Way I see it, if I'm going to have a good day, I'll be comfortable, and that makes it all the better. If I'm going to have a crappy day, then I'll be comfortable- and that makes it less crappy.

So with that in mind, it's always good to hear positive experiences. Most of mine- that stand out, anyway- center around ladies buying me alcohol. It would be nice if one would help me carry my groceries from time to time, though!
