In need of some opinions!
Dear All
My name is Dawn and I am a student from Huddersfield University studying Textile Design for Fashion and Interiors. I have just completed a placement year at Marton Mills which is a mill that specialises in weaving tartan in England.
I am currently in the process of writing my dissertation on tartan and how it has developed from traditional highland dress to high street fashion, looking at the work of Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen in this field.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in filling in my questionnaire on this subject as it would be a great help to me and be very useful indeed as I am trying to get as many different opinions as possible for my primary research.
Please reply to this thread or email me on dawnpowell21@live.co.uk and I will forward you the questionnaire as I do not seem to be able to upload it on here!!! If anyone knows how to do it if you could let me know that would be great!!!
Kind Regards
Dawn

Welcome, Dawn -
"Fashion" sometimes gets a bad rap here in this forum. The subject crops up from time to time.
May I ask how you plan to utilize the results in your research, especially given that your respondents are self-selected?
While you're here, you might also be interested in the Lasses Wear Thread.

Hi Rex
I was recommended this forum by someone I dealt with while working at Marton Mills they use it and they thought that I would get a good response back.
I do not plan to self select the people who reply I want to use all of the questionnaires I get back be it 10, 50 or even 100 to compile my results in graphs etc. The more responses the better! I thought that by using this forum I would get the replys of people who were knowledgeable about the subject.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and therefore I want a varied and open response in order to get the best results be it positive or negative.
I am looking at tartan from many different angles and how it is a passionate symbol of Scottishness and belonging and how it originated as well as the fashion aspect. If people believe that fashion has influenced tartan in a bad way I would greatly appreciate that view as well as a positive view in order for me to formulate a balanced argument.
Thank you for your link that you sent me I will have a look.
Kind Regards
Dawn
