You did a good job of covering a complex subject.

However, here is what your e-book states about kilt length: "The first measurement is the length of your kilt — a straight line down from your navel to where you want the bottom edge (or selvedge)."

If a kilt's overall length is measured from the navel to the knee, the kilt will not have a traditional rise (above the navel). It is my understanding that the top of a traditional kilt should be about 2 inches higher than the navel. If the kilt doesn't have this rise, a PC jacket will look too short.

correct however when kiltmakers ask for navel to knee they usually confirm that and add 2 inches on their own

I've been told by someone else just now that the images look pretty poor on his screen. Nick, the book downloaded fine on my PC. 1.5 MB isn't so big anymore. After a quick read-through, congratulations on an excellent piece of work that will be understandable and usable for your target audience and beyond. This is an excellent kilt resource and, in my opinion, an important one as well.

I say important for a couple of reasons...

1. It is contemporary and current,

2. It's written in a down to earth style to a broad spectrum of age groups,

3. It speaks with experience, authority, and much common sense.


Let's make it required reading for graduating from highschool.
