A new kilt- And having been inspired by Hamish.

Well, my Heritage of Wales kilt arrived a while back and my Mum kindly altered it so that it wasn't too long for me.
The Kilt, or I suppose Cilt, is much better quality than I expected.
It's heavy duty acrylic and I'd say it's almost 16oz. Smoother than it looks in the pictures below and comfortable to wear.
There are 31 pleats in the back and they are all very crisp.
Overall the kilt looks really good and feels really good to wear.

After being morbidly obese for a long time and losing all the weight I put a bit more than I'd like back on after injuring my back and then getting my neck cracked when I got mugged.

So taking inspiration from Hamish's Ardbeg Kilt I made a point of ordering one in the size I was before and it's hung up on my wall to remind me to go to the gym and lose the extra pounds.

The plan is to fit into it before I fly over to America.

I'd highly recommend a Kilt from the ebay company MyTartan. The product is great and the customer service was fantastic.

Good Luck! that's how I've about worked my way into my Utilikilt Workmans. I'm thinking about doing the same thing as you with something from Freedomm Kilts. The measurement video is very helpfull.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Best of luck with the weight loss, looking forward to seeing the kilt on you.

That is a nice-looking kilt you have there, Arlen - and I wish you well in your weight losing endeavours.

I really did not think I would have the stamina to lose any weight at all (I am in no way greedy, but I do like my food - and occasional glass of alcohol!), but I am surprised how relatively easy the process is. Last week was my best week yet - a loss of 3 3/4 lbs - so that's a total of 9¼ lbs in 8 weeks, and all done by diet alone as exercising is really neither practical nor possible. I account for everything I eat and drink and, using a book giving the calorific value of just about everything one CAN eat or drink, limit myself to 1500 calories a day. Some things I have cut out altogether: cheese, potatoes, yoghurt, alcohol and bread among them, but I eat a lot more fruit and vegetables than I used to.

Keep at it, and take it gently.

    Take care,
    Ham.

Looking at the photos used on their site, the prices, and also the wording one cannot help wonder if they are not part of the G**d B**s empire...

    Also what is "polyviscose wool"?

But I do like the tartan design which incorporates all the colours in the "Draig Goch" flag of Wales.

Best of luck with the weight loss Arlen - someone told me yesterday that I had put on weight and I replied that the Isle of Skye kilt I was wearing fitted me in the same position over 12 months ago!
